Managed Infrastructure
With Managed Infrastructure Services, SUE manages the servers, virtualization, storage, networks, and databases that support your business-critical applications. This can be done in your own data center, at a hosting provider, or in a hybrid environment. We automate management, test recovery procedures, and keep the environment ready for a phased transition to the cloud.
- 24/7 Monitoring
- Proactive incident response
- Tailored Personal Service
- Custom SLAs & DAP
The Benefits of Managed Infrastructure at SUE
A cloud strategy does not make your on-premises infrastructure any less business-critical. If your own engineers are working on the cloud, the existing environment quickly takes a back seat: patching gets postponed, recovery has never been tested, and the necessary expertise is concentrated among a handful of specialists.
SIDN, the organization behind the .nl domain, wanted to make its on-premises infrastructure more resilient while its in-house team focused on the cloud. A small team from SUE helped with this: we set up continuous monitoring with a fixed morning triage, turned patching into a documented process, and formalized the recovery tests for critical databases.
-
Tested Recovery: A backup is only valuable if you can restore it. We plan and document recovery tests for your critical databases.
-
Patching according to a set process: Updates are planned, documented, and implemented by the entire team, not on an ad hoc basis.
-
Configuration as Code: With Ansible and Terraform, servers remain consistent, and every change is repeatable.
-
Early Detection: Continuous monitoring of servers, storage, and the network, with 24/7 incident response.
-
Space for your own team: Your engineers work on the cloud or the product, while SUE manages and improves the existing environment.
-
Ready for the next step: A cleaned-up, well-documented environment makes a future migration to the cloud easier and more predictable.
What is included in Managed Infrastructure Services?
Managed Infrastructure is also made up of building blocks that you can purchase separately. Together, they cover the layers beneath your applications: from hardware and virtualization to the operating system, network, and databases.
01
Observability
We continuously monitor servers, hypervisors, storage, and the network using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Dynatrace. A regular morning triage ensures that issues are identified early on; SUE also implemented this approach at SIDN.
02
Automation + Configuration Management
We use Ansible and Terraform to describe your infrastructure as code. At SIDN, SUE helped restore and standardize the Ansible configuration across all relevant servers, which reduced technical debt.
03
Patching + Lifecycle Management
We patch operating systems such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server according to a fixed, documented process and plan upgrades well in advance of end-of-life. For Rijk Zwaan , we migrated the entire CentOS environment to RHEL with minimal downtime.
04
Backup + Disaster Recovery
We set up backups and test whether recovery works, with a documented recovery strategy for your critical databases. That way, you’ll know in advance how the recovery process works, rather than finding out only during an incident.
05
Virtualization + Private Cloud
We manage your virtualization platform and help you transition if licensing costs rise. NXP worked with SUE to migrate critical workloads from proprietary virtualization software to Apache CloudStack.
06
Networking, Storage, and Databases
We manage the components that support your applications: networking, storage, databases, and tools such as GitLab. We record, triage, and process change requests in a transparent manner.

Why You Should Choose Managed Infrastructure from SUE
SUE has been managing Linux environments and their underlying infrastructure since 1997, even in locations where the cloud is not an option. For Vanderlande, SUE built the Linux infrastructure for baggage handling systems at international airports: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server clusters with Corosync for high availability. Because those systems have no internet or cloud connection, all hardware was preconfigured in Veghel.
If you combine on-premises and cloud environments, the same team manages both. SUE helped SIDN prepare its on-premises environment for a partial transition to the cloud. For Textkernel , SUE migrated an on-premises Proxmox platform to Kubernetes on AWS.
Here's how we get started with Managed Infrastructure
We’ll start by assessing your environment: hardware, virtualization, operating systems, backups, and your current level of expertise. Then we’ll define the scope, SLAs, and escalation procedures, and take over management step by step.
-
Inventory: Overview of servers, versions, end-of-life dates, backups, and outstanding risks.
-
Scope + SLAs: Which systems are covered, what response times apply, and who decides on changes.
-
Technical onboarding: Connecting to monitoring systems, managing access, and defining configurations as code.
-
Stabilization: Dashboards, ticket process, and patching are all in order, and an initial restore test of critical systems has been conducted.
-
Ongoing management and improvement: Regular reviews of incidents, capacity, and end-of-life planning, including the path to the cloud where appropriate.
