Evolving beyond infrastructure
Since its start in 2008, Tilaa has delivered reliable Infrastructure-as-a-Service from their own datacenters in the Netherlands. But over time, they noticed a shift: customers were increasingly looking for managed services like databases, containers, and orchestration without the operational overhead. In response, Tilaa set out to build Nexaa: a new Cloud Application Platform that would allow developers to deploy applications without needing to understand the complexities of containers, Kubernetes or infrastructure management.

Partnering to build the future
Tilaa partnered with SUE to bring in specialized Kubernetes expertise, accelerating the development of their platform. Together, the teams re-architected the platform from the ground up, creating a highly available, fully automated, and extensible Kubernetes environment designed for long-term evolution. Beyond technology, SUE supported internal enablement through training and workshops, ensuring non-technical teams could confidently communicate Nexaa’s value and capabilities.

Modernized storage layer: Rebuilding Tilaa’s storage clusters based on CEPH, replacing a legacy deployment environment with a scalable, S3-compatible best-practices setup ready for Nexaa.
From concept to production-ready platform
Tilaa turned a bold idea into a working platform with targeted external support from SUE. Nexaa emerged as a next-generation European cloud with the elasticity of the big hyperscalers.
