TechTalk: How do containers really work?

Containerization

How do containers really work

Containers: we all use them. In the past decade, they have revolutionized the IT industry by enabling faster, more efficient software deployment and scalability. Today, containers are the foundation of DevOps, microservices, and cloud-native architectures. But do you know how containers really work?

Join us for a fascinating TechTalk with Erik Mouw, Engineer at SUE, as he dives into the mechanisms behind containers. What makes sure that containers don’t “see” each other or can use all of the resources of the host sytem? During his talk, Erik will explore the two mechanisms that power containers: namespaces and cgroups.

About Erik

Erik discovered Linux back in 1992 while studying Electrical Engineering at Delft University, and compiled his first kernel in 1994. After receiving his MSc degree he was employed by that same university as a kernel hacker to port Linux to a self-designed (Strong)ARM based ultra low power computer board, co-inventing CPU power scaling. He then worked for a successful data recovery business and currently is with SUE for over 17 years.

Register now and let’s talk containers on April 3 at the SUE office, De Ooyen 9, Geldermalsen! After the TechTalk, you are more than welcome to enjoy a nice diner and drinks together.
